BriggsAmasco has once again been recognised for outstanding workmanship at the Scottish NFRC Awards 2014, winning in the reinforced bituminous membrane category for the waterproofing application at the new £11.2 million integrated policing facility at Kittybrewster, Aberdeen.

The Awards, which took place at Glasgow’s Trades Hall on the 24th October, recognise the best projects in Scotland across all roofing disciplines. BriggsAmasco’s highly skilled and efficient application at Kittybrewster saw the UK’s leading roofing and waterproofing specialist pick up the award.

Working throughout the winter period, BriggsAmasco completed the application of sedum mats and waterproofing membrane whilst also accomodating an array of 60 rooflights. BriggsAmasco carried out the full installation, incorporating a versatile, cost-effective and lightweight Bauder green roof system.

Despite the complexities of the installation, the size of the roof and the challenging deadline, the new roofing system was delivered to an exceptionally high standard. As the company’s latest award-winning project, the Kittybrewster project further enhances BriggsAmasco’s reputation for delivering exceptional waterproofing and roofing solutions.

BriggsAmasco lifts Challenge Cup at MAC Awards 2012

On Friday 15th June at the Royal Horseguards Hotel in London, over 120 of the country’s leading mastic asphalt contractors gathered to recognise and celebrate the industry’s very best projects, companies and innovations. Following successes at this year’s Roofing Awards and Specialist Awards, BriggsAmasco once again came out on top.

BriggsAmasco was recognised for its exceptional standards of waterproofing achieved at the Stanhope Street Regeneration project – the transformation of an urban village by one of the largest property management, development and regeneration companies in the UK, Places for People.

Originally invited to investigate water ingress in and around the communal and private balconies, the company worked with IKO Permanite to produce a specification that would renew the existing waterproofing membrane with a product offering a proven track record and a guarantee to back this up.

Using Permaphalt polymer modified roofing, BriggsAmasco completed the 4000m2 application, as well as a series of associated works on budget, on time and whilst the flats were fully occupied. Having demonstrated excellent communication with tenants and the highest health and safety standards throughout, BriggsAmasco will complete the fourth and final phase of the project in 2013.

Every year the awards are organised and held by MAC, a non-profit making independent body with quality products, design and workmanship as fundamental requirements for its members – more than 90 of the UK’s leading mastic asphalt contractors and manufacturers.

BriggsAmasco wins coveted training award at Roofing Awards 2012

‘Along with our prestigious Roofing award at the Construction News Specialist Awards 2012, this award is testament to our commitment to training of our staff and operatives,’ commented BriggsAmasco Managing Director Dave Maginnis.

On announcing the award – formally recognised by CITB-ConstructionSkills – the judges praised the company’s approach. ‘Training is an everyday part of this organisation’s ethos, but they have gone further and built a dedicated training room for not only themselves but other trade associations and organisations to use to train other contractors extending the benefit of training to all in the roofing sector.’

In the last 12 months alone, an impressive 504 man days have been allocated to individual staff and operative training both on site and at the company’s dedicated training centre. The training centre at the head office in the West Midlands offers up to date classroom facilities and further areas with training rigs for hands on learning of roofing skills. The company has an active policy of promotion from within, and supports employees in vocational and educational training.

The Roofing Awards have now entered their seventh year and this year was hosted by TV presenter Matt Allwright. Formerly the NFRC Awards, they have become an industry-wide competition that recognise and reward outstanding standards of workmanship and safety within the roofing industry.
