BriggsAmasco opens its doors to LRWA Specialist Apprentice Programme

The two-year Specialist Apprenticeship Programme (SAP) will be based at the LRWA Training Centre at BriggsAmasco in Birmingham. It will combine classroom and workshop sessions with on-site instruction to help candidates obtain an NVQ Level 2 qualification – which in turn will enable them to get a CSCS card.

“Training and development has always been a crucial part of our company ethos,” said Dave Maginnis, BriggsAmasco Managing Director. “Our dedicated training centre in Birmingham offers up to date classroom facilities and training rigs for hands on learning, and will provide a fantastic base for the new LRWA apprenticeship scheme.”

Launched in January 2012, the course has proven so popular with its first group of apprentices that the LRWA is looking for a second intake to begin training in September 2012. With exceptional training facilities and instruction by LRWA instructors, the course gives candidates the perfect start in the industry.

Utilising its facilities for the apprenticeship scheme, BriggsAmasco has once again demonstrated its unrivalled commitment to training and development which recently saw the company scoop the Exceptional Contribution to Training Award at the 2012 Roofing Awards.

Aperture sponsors Give & Gain Day scheme

On 18 May 2012, over 30 volunteers from Kingspan Insulation gave their time to regenerate the forest school area at St Winefride’s. With sponsorship from Aperture, as well as a host of volunteers and generous donations, the new-look school area will provide a much improved learning environment for more than 450 pupils, aged from 3 to 11 years.

“We are so grateful for all the generous donations we received,” said Peter Bullough, Divisional Finance Director for Kingspan. “We are well aware that without your support we would not have been able to accomplish half of what we did.”

Every year Aperture plays its part in a number of community support initiatives, from sponsoring events to employees running marathons for charity. The company will continue to support the community by encouraging employees, customers and suppliers to utilise their skills and time through a range of volunteering and fund-raising efforts.

Leading roofing companies support Tower2Tower cyclist

On the 28th July 2012, Mark will be joined by 13 other riders including former footballer Colin Hendry as they set off from beneath Blackpool Tower. Sporting his brand new cycling apparel supplied by BriggsAmasco, Hyflex and Aperture, Mark will ride his way down through England and over the English Channel, before arriving at the Eiffel Tower in Paris on Saturday 4th August.

The group will cycle between 70 and 100 miles every day, with the hard and sometimes painful work rewarded with a celebration meal in Paris on the final night. The event will raise much-needed funds for various charities including the Denise Hendry Foundation and main charity Challenge 4 Change.

“I came about working for Challenge 4 Change after a 6 week placement from University in February 2011 – giving me a great insight into the fantastic work they do,” said Mark Knowles. “As soon as I heard about the cycle challenge I was determined to get involved and hoped to raise as much money as I could for the Challenge 4 Change charity.
