Job Title: Major Project Estimator
Location: Head Office/National
Hours: Mon-Fri (8-5) 40 hours per week
Salary: Competitive +Pension +Car Allowance
 
Ideally hold NVQ Level 6 (Lower level acceptable if experienced and commit to further training) Previous Roofing Estimating Experience essential. Good level of Maths, English, Communication & Commercial awareness required.
 

PURPOSE:
To calculate and prepare tender submissions, working out what a contract will cost to deliver, whilst ensuring it returns the required profit.

REPORTS TO:
Operations Director

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Complete, manage and coordinate the process of designing the solution(s), estimating the costs and planning the implementation of projects in order to meet or exceed customers’ requirements, but at all times providing BriggsAmasco with the best commercial and design options.
2. Assist in the bid qualification process for new opportunities.
3. Develop relationships and maintain close contact with key decision makers within the industry.
4. Manage inputs from a variety of stakeholders, typically involving contributions from sales, manufacturers, commercial, and delivery.
5. Establish a clear and thorough understanding of the bid requirements, including the main deliverables and the client’s drivers.
6. Understand and resolve complex technical, strategic and business issues.
7. Ensure risk registers are produced and managed throughout the bid process.
8. Preparing and reviewing the commercial aspects of the bid, ensuring all services are included in the final price to the customer.
9. Ensure timely delivery of compliant and commercially sound bids.
10. Attend all post bid reviews with customers, internal staff and where applicable suppliers.
11. Produce reports and presentations both verbally and in writing.
12. Follow BriggsAmasco’s estimating and design management procedures and ensure they are implemented at each stage of the bid management/tender process.
13. Chair initial bid team meeting, brief team on bid [where applicable].
14. Prepare internal adjudication and ensure our procedures are completed incorporating all qualifications, clarifications and derogations
15. Provide comprehensive project handover documentation to the branch staff
16. Develop and monitor tender period programme, circulate to internal stakeholders, and where applicable ensure team buy-in.

AUTHORITY LIMITS:
1. Profit margins to be agreed prior to submission of tenders.
2. Use of preferred suppliers where possible.
3. Preparation and submission of tenders to be in accordance with Company’s Competition Compliance Policy.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE OF POSITION HOLDER.
Incumbents need to be articulate, numerate and demonstrate competence in:

  • Adaptability/ Business Awareness/ Detail Handling/ Initiative/Planning and Organising/Roofing
  • Industry/Plant/Safety and Communication.
  • Experience of the building and construction industry would be beneficial.
  • General computer awareness.
