Three Contracts Shortlisted at NFRC UK Roofing Awards
BriggsAmasco is among finalists in this year’s NFRC awards having been announced as a shortlisted entrant in three categories.
The recognition is in connection with waterproofing projects carried out a Retailer Distribution Centre in Swindon, which is a finalist in the awards’ ‘Bituminous Hot Applied Liquid Waterproofing’ category. Whilst the company’s delivery of watertight, multiple roof applications at Skypark Business Park, Glasgow, and Battersea Power Station, London have been shortlisted in the ‘Mastic Asphalt’ category.
The winners of each category will be announced at an awards ceremony being held at the InterContinental Hotel, The O2 on Friday 12 May 2023.

BriggsAmasco Waterproofing Design and Installation Excellence Earns Industry Accolade
BriggsAmasco’s delivery of an innovative waterproof system for a Retailer Distribution Centre has been ‘Highly Commended’ in the Liquid Roofing category at this year’s LRWA Awards.
The accolade was announced at a gala presentation evening held on behalf of awards nominees and LWRA members at Liverpool’s Titanic Hotel.
BriggsAmasco’s Highly Commended award, in conjunction with IKO, was for work carried out at £400 million Retailer Distribution Centre in Swindon. The building has a footprint in the region of 166,000m2 – the equivalent of six-and-a-half football pitches – making it the second-largest warehouse building of its type in the UK. BriggsAmasco was selected to design and install an inverted waterproof system for the warehouse’s 4,700m2 roof.
With support from IKO, the huge programme was an exemplar of waterproofing excellence. This was despite Briggs’ installation teams having to contend with challenges including travel restrictions and material shortages caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Speaking of the company’s award, Dave Maginnis, BriggsAmasco Managing Director said: “It’s a fantastic achievement for all BriggsAmasco staff involved with the Retailer Distribution Centre project. The waterproofing programme was carried out in incredibly challenging circumstances. With the support of IKO, the project’s superb completion was a triumph of design and high-grade workmanship. “I have now been Working for Briggs Amasco for 2 years, and I can honestly say it’s been the best choice I have ever made. My apprenticeship covers three different skills, involving Felt Membrane, Liquid coating, and Single Ply. I enjoy the felt side the most because I feel there is a lot to take in, and also looks adequately pleasing after the roof has been finished. Briggs Amasco has always given me a morale of support since I have started so in return, I continued to work hard for the company, which resulted in winning the apprentice of the year. This gave so much motivation in myself in which I continue to grow my skills and also the enjoyment of coming to work. “I began my Quantity Surveying Degree Apprenticeship in September 2022 and have learnt about many aspects of the construction industry. Within law we have covered topics such as contract terms, dispute resolution, professional liability and contract termination. We have also studied a wide range of Building Technology topics such as foundations, roofing and cladding etc. I have found that my learning at Sheffield Hallam University has helped with my day-to-day work at Briggs Amasco. Overall I am enjoying my experience and would highly recommend the apprenticeship scheme to anyone interested”

BriggsAmasco has been shortlisted in the category Liquid Roofing Project of the Year in a Buried Application for the project Retailer Distribution Centre in Swindon.
The winners will be announced at a gala dinner on 22 March 2023 at the Titanic Hotel in Liverpool’s Stanley Dock.
