As part of the £600 million Birmingham Gateway project, New Street railway station is being transformed into a 21st century transport hub. Appointed to apply 15,000m2 of waterproofing systems across the site – BriggsAmasco has designed and installed a stainless steel reinforcement system to protect its Flexiphalte vehicle decking system from extremely heavy loads.
With a requirement for HGV and compactor parking on a truck deck, BriggsAmasco developed a stainless steel reinforcement and containment system that would eliminate damage to the paving layer and indentation. Comprising a grid of stainless steel tied together then infilled with the paving layer; the system was also designed to be independent of the Flexiphalte system.
Hard work, support and early integration of the supply chain has been crucial throughout the successful delivery of this challenging project. Using the company’s technical expertise, creative planning and a client-centric approach – BriggsAmasco has once again risen to the challenge to keep the prestigious Birmingham Gateway project on course for its 2015 deadline.
