In August 2010, BriggsAmasco was called in to strip the supermarket car park’s existing tarmac and relay an entirely new waterproof surface. The decking system had to provide a waterproof layer between the topside and the underground car park areas, as previously these areas had been prone to flooding during wet weather.

With a strict four month deadline to complete the installation in time for the busy Christmas shopping period, BriggsAmasco specified and installed 50mm thick mastic asphalt. Chosen for its durability, value for money and ability to provide a watertight surface, mastic asphalt also offered a rapid installation that proved perfect for Waitrose in Brackley.

As the supermarket was to remain entirely operational throughout the refurbishment, it was vital that the BriggsAmasco team could complete all works with minimal disruption to the day to day running of the store. To achieve this, a carefully structured sequential application process was put in place where only a small part of the car park was out of use at any one time.

Using a highly skilled team of operatives and fast-applied mastic asphalt, BriggsAmasco were able to complete the application on time and on budget, allowing the car park to be fully operational for Christmas – the store’s busiest period of the year.
