On Tuesday 18th February the topping out ceremony was held on the roof of the new hospital. In attendance was Professor Sir Bruce Keogh KBE, National Medical Director of the NHS. Sir Bruce was very impressed with the work that had took part so far saying “I think it reflects great ambition. Once it’s open it will be something you can be really proud of.” The hospital is set to open in June 2014 and will treat 60000 patients a year.
