Appointed to replace all the existing asphalt roofs to improve the school’s thermal performance from an E rating, a Sarnafil Single Ply Roof management system was specified by client Aberdeen City Council for its proven value, credible guarantee and exceptional waterproofing protection.

With works taking place during term time, BriggsAmasco had to contend with the extreme weather conditions and a busy site whilst also ensuring minimal disruption was caused to the school. To deliver the project on time and adhere to the strict no naked flame policy, the hot air weldable Sarnafil G410-15EL fitted the bill perfectly.

Following a detailed survey by BriggsAmasco, its experienced installation team first stripped off the existing roof and then laid 120mm thick PIR insulation boards.  The team applied 3,400m2 of Sarnavap 5000E, a 1mm thick self-adhesive vapour control layer, to ensure moisture vapour permeability in accordance with the British Standard EN 1931.

The final part of the hot air fully adhered system was the application of Sarnafil G410-15EL single ply membrane which required a high level of detailing in terms of wall, parapet junctions and rooflights. The cold-adhered technique proved particularly advantageous on the school site, meeting health and safety requirements for both the operatives and the school pupils and staff.

BriggsAmasco’s exceptional workmanship and attention to detail, along with the use of a market proven product from Sarnafil contributed to a high performance roofing system on the academy which is guaranteed to stand the test of time.
