Tower2Tower cyclists raise 20K for charity

On the 28th July 2012, Mark joined the other riders including former footballer Colin Hendry as they set off from beneath Blackpool Tower. Sporting his brand new cycling apparel supplied by BriggsAmasco, Hyflex and Aperture, Mark was one of 14 riders who completed the entire route riding his way down through England and over the English Channel, before arriving at the Eiffel Tower in Paris on Saturday 4th August.

The group cycled between 70 and 100 miles every day, with the hard and sometimes painful work rewarded with a celebration meal in Paris on the final night. The event raised needed funds for various charities including the Denise Hendry Foundation and main charity Challenge 4 Change.

“As soon as I heard about the cycle challenge I was determined to get involved and raise as much money as I could for the Challenge 4 Change charity,’ said Mark Knowles. ‘While the ride was hard going at times, especially on the day I managed to have six punctures, I felt great pride in the achievement knowing that my efforts would contribute to raising much needed funds for the charity.’

Aperture sponsors Give & Gain Day scheme

On 18 May 2012, over 30 volunteers from Kingspan Insulation gave their time to regenerate the forest school area at St Winefride’s. With sponsorship from Aperture, as well as a host of volunteers and generous donations, the new-look school area will provide a much improved learning environment for more than 450 pupils, aged from 3 to 11 years.

“We are so grateful for all the generous donations we received,” said Peter Bullough, Divisional Finance Director for Kingspan. “We are well aware that without your support we would not have been able to accomplish half of what we did.”

Every year Aperture plays its part in a number of community support initiatives, from sponsoring events to employees running marathons for charity. The company will continue to support the community by encouraging employees, customers and suppliers to utilise their skills and time through a range of volunteering and fund-raising efforts.
