Location: Manchester, but must be willing to travel across UK
Hours: 40 (8am to 5pm, 1 hour lunch)

ABOUT THE ROLE:
  • Aperture is seeking an experienced, motivated, and hands-on Operations Manager / Contracts Manager to become the second-in-command within the business. This is a key leadership role, responsible for supporting the General Manager in the day-to-day running of operations while ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, and to the highest standard. The successful candidate will be confident managing multiple roofing projects, carrying out regular site visits, maintaining excellent health and safety standards, and building strong relationships with clients, site teams, and subcontractors.
REPORTS TO:
  • General Manager

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Manage the day-to-day operational delivery of multiple roofing projects.
  2. Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, quality, and programme performance.
  3. Ensure all work complies with current Health & Safety legislation and company policies.
  4. Prepare and review Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
  5. Carry out site audits, toolbox talks, and safety inspections.
  6. Supervise site teams and subcontractors, ensuring high standards of workmanship and productivity.
  7. Provide technical support and guidance on cold-applied roofing systems.
  8. Resolve site issues quickly and effectively to minimise delays.
  9. Liaise with clients, principal contractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
  10. Assist with project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  11. Monitor project costs and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
  12. Produce site reports and maintain accurate project documentation.
  13. Support the General Manager with operational planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
  14. Act as the General Manager’s deputy when required.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Incumbents need to be articulate, numerate and demonstrate competence in:

  1. Proven experience as a Site Supervisor, Contracts Supervisor, Operations Manager, or Contracts Manager within the roofing or construction industry.
  2. Strong knowledge and practical experience of cold-applied roofing systems.
  3. Excellent understanding of Health & Safety legislation and best practices.
  4. Experience conducting site inspections, audits, and quality checks.
  5. Ability to manage multiple live projects simultaneously.
  6. Strong leadership and people management skills.
  7. Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
  8. Commercial awareness and problem-solving capability.
  9. Full UK driving licence.
