Title: Business Development Manager/Bid Manager
Location: National
Hours: 40 (Mon-Fri 8am to 5pm, 1 hour lunch)

- To manage a national role to create new opportunities and business to achieve margin objectives in our traditional business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To develop and implement a/an area business plan in order to achieve objectives and margin targets nationally. Area covered by AREA region incorporating NUMBER counties.
- To acquire new Clients and business in the refurbishment market (although not exclusive).
- To promote whenever possible group products.
- Develop relationships with End users that own their premises.
- To develop new, and maintain existing, Council approved status.
- Undertake sales/technical CPD presentations as necessary to Clients/Surveyors and other key decision makers to acquire business.
- Provide site surveys, technical advice/guidance and prepare proposal specifications for prospective customers/projects in conjunction with relevant Branch staff.
- Liaise with the relevant Branch Manager/National Sales Manager on the margin potential.
- Develop and maintain an effective project quote and specification tracking and communication system.
- Liaise and exchange information with Suppliers representatives to enhance business opportunities.
- Liaise and co-operate with the relevant Branch/Head Office staff to ensure that customer service requirement are exceeded.
- Liaise with Contract Manager at order stage and during Contract as required to ensure the smooth running and profitable outcome of contract.
- Analyse market intelligence and report on competitor activity/information and advise on appropriate actions.
- Maintain customer-focused philosophy through a commitment to continuous improvement.
- To implement Company policy at all times.
AUTHORITY LIMITS:
- Pricing policy to approved contractors/projects.
- Approved Client/Contractor selection.
- Key customer targets/selection.
- Time management/journey planning in pursuit of objectives.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE OF POSITION HOLDER
Incumbents need to be articulate, numerate and demonstrate competence in:
- Adaptability/Business Awareness/Detail Handling/Initiative/Planning and Organising/Presenting
- Experience of the building and construction industry would be beneficial/essential.
- General computer awareness.
