Our state-of-the-art asphalt ‘finisher’ ensured a new car park was equipped with a rapid-delivery, watertight surface despite poor weather conditions.

BriggsAmasco was selected by contractors, ESH Border Construction, to install car park decking covering an area totalling 8,000m2 at Lloyd BMW car dealership in Carlisle. With work starting in November 2016, BriggsAmasco’s skilled installers were presented with a challenging two-month deadline in which to complete the project during the year’s most inclement season. IKO Permapark, a mastic asphalt waterproofing system which also contains high-fatigue resistance in heavy-trafficked areas, was specified as the high-performance surface solution for the car park’s two decks – an intermediate and top level. The decks’ mastic asphalt surface comprised a 10mm waterproof layer with a 25mm wearing coat, which was laid by BriggsAmasco’s state-of-the-art finisher to the car park’s second level. Two ramps, connecting the upper and lower car park levels, and one linking the company’s existing car showroom to a groundfloor car park, were also installed.

The machine is able to lay 90 tonnes of asphalt per day, five-times the amount a traditional hand-lay process can achieve. The finisher’s superb speed and accuracy meant the car park’s exposed upper deck was resurfaced with minimal weather disruption. By reducing on-site working time, it also proved a cost-effective installation solution. Its material waste-saving properties, which meet the highest environmental standards and stringent building regulations, proved an additional benefit.

Exclusively available in the UK from BriggsAmasco, the finisher’s rapid-apply, high-performance qualities ensured the car park’s decks were supplied with a proven, long-term, watertight surface within the client’s strict two-month timeframe and to their complete satisfaction.
