BriggsAmasco nominated for Top Industry Award

The experience and skills of its onsite installation teams has resulted in BriggsAmasco, the UK’s leading industrial and commercial roofing company, being shortlisted at this year’s prestigious National Roofing Federation Contractors (NFRC) UK Roofing Awards.

The NFRC, the UK’s largest roofing trade organisation with more than 1,000 members, is described as “the voice” of the roofing sector. Its awards are an annual industry highlight, and this year BriggsAmasco has been nominated in the ‘Mastic Asphalt’ category for its waterproofing work at the Jaguar Landrover Manufacturing Centre in Coventry. The project involved supplying a watertight solution for an additional car parking facility at the expanded site.

Kris Bryan at BriggsAmasco said: “This is great news for all concerned at the company. The Jaguar Landrover project perfectly encapsulated our site team’s installation skills and knowledge. The UK Roofing Awards are celebrated throughout the sector, so to be among finalists in this event is a fantastic achievement.”

This year’s category winners will be announced at a gala awards luncheon being held on Friday, May 10th at the InterContinental Hotel in London. The event will be hosted by TV presenter, Sarah Beeny.

BriggsAmasco Employee Showcases Roofing Skills On World Stage

BriggsAmasco employee Andrew Hubbard had the honour of representing the UK at the bi-annual IFD Young Roofers World Championship.

This year’s contest took place in Riga, Latvia and featured 31 teams from 11 counties competing to showcase their technical excellence in a range of roofing disciplines. Andrew was a member of the four-strong NFRC UK Roofing Team.

Working to a competition design specification, the roofers were judged on their workmanship, use of materials and accuracy in a range of disciplines, with the NFRC UK Roofing Team competing in the pitched roof and waterproofing categories.

Although Andrew and his skilled countrymen returned home empty-handed on this occasion, they earned praise from the team’s selectors for their ‘professionalism and commitment’ throughout the three-day tournament.

Gary Walpole, NFRC’s Safety, Health and Environmental Manager, said Andrew’s single-ply skills became apparent during a SPRA training course. ”Andrew’s willingness to learn and attention to detail shone above the other apprentices on his course,” Gary said.

“What has impressed me the most about Andrew over the couple of years I’ve known him is how proud and passionate he is to have a career in roofing; he certainly doesn’t view it as just a job. His aptitude and attitude is a credit to the industry, which is why I selected him to represent Great Britain at this year’s Young Roofers World Championship.”

Gary added: “I’d also like to take this opportunity of thanking BriggsAmasco for supporting Andrew whilst he was training for the competition.”

As well as supplying one of the competition’s up-an-coming roofers, BriggsAmasco donated the rig and training space for the contests waterproofing element.

BriggsAmasco’s roofing excellence has been rewarded with a successful showing at this year’s Scottish NFRC Awards.

The leading commercial roofing contractor triumphed in the Liquid Applied Waterproofing category in a nationwide contest designed to celebrate ‘roofing excellence in Scotland’. Judges, who included Ian McKee, Managing Director of GLM, one of the country’s leading design and project management consultancies, praised BriggsAmasco’s delivery of a multi-roof waterproof system at Marischal Square in Aberdeen, calling it an ‘excellent looking job’. The project formed part of a £107m scheme to transform Aberdeen city centre into a ‘vibrant’ mixed-use quarter featuring seven restaurants, a 126-room hotel and two office buildings; the recipients of BriggsAmasco’s award-winning waterproofing system.

David Maginnis, BriggsAmasco Managing Director, said: “We’re delighted with the award. NRFC is the UK’s largest roofing trade association, and its awards are much valued throughout the industry. Our success is testament to the effort and skills of our entire team. Marischal Square provides an excellent example of how BriggsAmasco is able to successfully deliver roofing projects regardless of size or complexity. We thank NFRC’s judges for their kind words in support of our entry.”
