BriggsAmasco’s waterproofing excellence has been recognised with a prized industry accolade.

The company won the Car Decks and Paving category at this year’s Mastic Asphalt Council (MAC) Awards in recognition of its outstanding mastic asphalt application and project delivery at Hemel Hempstead Multi-Storey Car Park (MSCP). The award celebrates the exceptional work carried out by BriggsAmasco, a leading roofing and waterproofing contractor.

The award was presented to BriggsAmasco’s Simon Hatch (Chessington Branch Manager) and Lee Virgin (Operations Director) during a ceremony hosted by former England rugby union star James Haskell at the Royal Horseguards Hotel in London, on Friday 12th June 2026.

Tony Lawther, BriggsAmasco Managing Director, said: “What a great accolade for our superb waterproofing teams. Their exceptional talent and professionalism were more than worthy of this highly valued industry award. Congratulations to all those involved with the Hemel Hempstead Car Park project on more well-earned success.”

For the Hemel Hempstead MSCP project, BriggsAmasco installed an IKO Permapark mastic asphalt system across a 2300 m² surface area. The installation relied entirely on hot charge delivery, luggers, and hand laying techniques; a highly skilled approach that is rarely carried out at scale on a modern MSCP.

High-risk interfaces, site access limitations, and multi-level complex detailing were among significant challenges encountered by Briggs’ waterproofing teams during the Hemel Hempstead MSCP project. Through careful planning, skilled workmanship and disciplined execution, each issue was successfully overcome, resulting in a high-performance asphalt system delivered under demanding conditions.

Tony Lawther, who had the honour of presenting the Apprentice of the Year Award (sponsored by BriggsAmasco), continued: “Our work at the Hemel Hempstead Multi-Storey Car Park reflects the high standards we strive to deliver on every project. It’s indicative of our team’s ingenuity in overcoming complexities and challenges to fulfil client expectations within the agreed timeframe and budget.”
