Description:
BriggsAmasco supplied a multi-roof waterproof programme to advance the construction of a luxury retirement village.
The work was carried out at Audley Scarcroft Park, a 172-property development set within 110 glorious green acres on the outskirts of Leeds. The retirement village includes one-to-three-bedroom apartments and cottages centred around a stately Grade II listed building, making it an ideal experience for residents seeking an independent lifestyle in safe, secure, splendorous surroundings.
For the project’s waterproofing aspect, BriggsAmasco was appointed by contractor, Graham Construction, to deliver a multi-discipline application for nine roofing areas covering 1,500m2 in total.
Covering one block at a time, BriggsAmasco’s roof installers began work at Audley Scarcroft Park in October. The installation involved buildings designed by Gaunt Francis Architects.
BriggsAmasco’s renowned experience and expertise was essential for this waterproofing project. The roofs featured numerous blocks and phases containing different designs and specifications of insulation.
IKO Armourplan P, a polyester-reinforced, mechanically-fixed single-ply membrane, provided the main covering for pitched roof areas, which also included a standing seam profile for aesthetic purposes. The single-ply system included IKO Spectravap, a 0.3mm thick polyethylene vapour control layer (VCL), and 160mm IKO Enertherm insulation. To a terraced area, an IKO Permatec hotmelt system was installed. It comprised polymer primer, two layers of IKO Permatec membrane, 240mm IKO Enertherm XPS insulation, and a padded, paving finish.
As proof of the company’s commitment to providing quality training for candidates looking to achieve Level 2 NVQ, BriggsAmasco fielded two single-ply apprentices – one design apprentice, one quantity surveyor apprentice – during the Audley Scarcroft Park project. The experience gained onsite will prove invaluable to securing a recognised industry qualification, an essential step in establishing a long and fulfilling career in construction.
The multi-discipline waterproofing application at Audley Scarcroft Park required intense focus and skilled, creative workmanship to ensure the programme met the client’s requirements. BriggsAmasco’s operatives succeeded on all counts, with the project being completed to the highest specification, within budget and to the agreed timeframe.
